You can think of this game as a mathematical equivalent to crossword puzzles. The game is also known as Kakro or Cross Sums.
A Kakuro consists of a playing area made up of filled and empty cells, much like a crossword puzzle. Some cells contain a diagonal slash from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. These cells also contain one or two numbers, called clues. A number in the top right corner is a clue for the 'across sum' and a number in the bottom left corner is a clue for the 'down sum'.
The object is to insert digits between 1 and 9 into the empty cells so that the sum of the empty cells equals the numbers in the clues associated with them. No digit may be used more than once in each sum. For example, the sum 6 can be reached by using the numbers 1 & 5 or 2 & 4 but not 3 & 3. Sounds simple but it gets hard and this game is as addictive as Sudoku.
