Have you downloaded a DVD that some one must have recorded off of their TV, probably a 16:9 broadcast, recorded onto 4:3 format. So what you’ ve got is a bunch of 4:3 VOBs containing a 16:9 video with letterboxing above and below. Do you consider to convert this to a 16:9 video, with the letterboxing removed, and then chop the video into segments for futher editing on Sony Vegas?
Now, there are two easy ways to solve the problems.
The first solution:
Step 1. Download and install Moyea DVD Ripper which can easily and fastly rip any DVDs to any other video format with excellent output quality. In addition, it is a wonderful edior which has some special functions, like trimming, cropping, etc.

Step 2. Add the DVD file onto the program by click “DVD Folder” (or click “DVD Rom” and “IFO/ISO” )
Step 3. Click “Settings” and then select the 16:9 output video format on the drop-down list of Profile.

Step 4. Crop the letterboxed and trim the file to several segments after clicking the “Edit” icon.

Step 5. Start the conversion
Go to the destination folder and copy the converted file to Sony Vegas after the whole process of the above.
The second solution:
Part one: Converting DVDs to WMV, AVI, etc. acceptable to Sony Vegas.
Step 1. Download and install Moyea DVD Ripper
Step 2. Add the DVD file onto the program and select the output video format and the destination folder.
Step 3. Start the conversion.
Part two: Transferring the converted video file to Sony Vegas to edit the file.
Sony Vegas not only can crop video to 16:9 but also has a trimmer that you can use to cut the letterboxed of the file and then place it on the timeline. The original video is not affected so you can edit the clips or segments multiple times.
Well, both simple ways can easily achieve the aim to thansfer DVDs to Sony Vegas.
Hope it helps!
